Medicines distributed by Bibi Gurdial Kaur Khangura on occasion of Women's day

Bibi Guridal Kaur Khangura marked Women's Day by taking action against lack of basic health awareness in rural areas and accompanying lack of empowerment of women.

Bibi Khangura, accompanied by Dr Usha Dingra Bali and Mrs Meena Sanghera (CEO Metal Nomics, California), visited the MDVL Community Dairy Units at Khandoor, Mukhandpur and Phallewal to share life experiences and motivate the women entrepreneurs.

Dr Usha spoke to the women about the importance of healthcare generally, with specific focus on anaemia, which is often the result of a poor diet. Bibi Gurdial Kaur Khangura distributed a month's supply of essential dietary supplements to over 160 women, free of cost.

Mrs. Meena Sanghera interacted with the women, explaining to them that women worldwide face similar issues. She said that by coming self sufficient they can achieve their goals and provide a better standing of living for themselves and their families. She encouraged them to focus on healthcare, education for their children and, very importantly self respect.

Many women shared their own experiences, and compared the situation before and after having their own small dairy business. Ranjit Kaur, on the verge of tears, said “hun sadi we izzat hundi hai, kiyon ki assi we kamonde ha” (Now we also get respect, as we earn now). Teachers called from UK to teach/improve English of Qila Raipur students

MLA Jassi Khangura to keep his promise to bring in international class in the Qila Raipur students, he has started a program under Babu Joginder Singh Benevolent trust to teach English as a foreign language to the students of Qila Raipur Constituency, supported by overseas teachers. English is so widely spoken; it has often been referred to as a "global language”, a language that is absorbing aspects of cultures worldwide as it continues to grow. Language teaching practice often assumes that most of the difficulties that learners face in the study of English are a consequence of the degree to which their native language differs from English (a contrastive analysis approach). His mission is to provide youth a high quality language program that meets their academic, professional or personal needs. As their language ability develops, their will also increase your awareness of the distinct qualities of professional culture.

Working knowledge of English is required in certain fields, professions, and occupations, English is studied and spoken by up to a billion people around the world, to at least a basic level. English is one of six official working languages of the United Nations. To enhance the employment prospects of the rural youth in Qila Raipur, he wishes to enhance English language skills in the area. These students belong to various villages in the area and looking for a secure future.

In the initial stage, these classes are being held for the students in Narangwal College and the students of CHKM (Certified course in hotel & kitchen management). Teachers will be visiting from the United Kingdom to help with English language training in stints of 4, 8 or 12 weeks at Ludhiana, Punjab. This is EFL (English as a Foreign Language) training program, which consists of immersive 90-minute discussion sessions, in restricted class sizes. English as a foreign language refers to teaching English to students for whom it is not their mother tongue, which explains the distinctions between different kinds of teaching of English to non-native speakers. This is an approach to the teaching of languages that emphasizes interaction as both the means and the ultimate goal of learning a language.

Training is full of fun and knowledge. They find the trainees incredibly eager to improve their verbal English skills. Jassi thinks that there are four language skills that are important for effective communication: reading, listening, speaking and writing which every young person of Qila Raipur should have. This is a great idea for activities that will brighten up any English language class. Jassi Khangura's wants that people with poor English-speaking abilities, who wish to get ahead in life, will benefit most from these global English proficiency programs.
